Public Transport operates well in Germany, allowing all visitors to get around easily and economically on buses, trams and trains. A Public transportation ticket for the Rhein Neckar region will be provided for free travel for all registered participants (show your tournament ID card). This will allow everyone to get around Heidelberg for free with ease without using your own vehicle. For detailed information and connections see or get the myVRN App (German) for your smartphone.

Here you can see a summary of the most common routes for WU24 participants:

Hauptbahnhof/Central Station (HBF) Heidelberg (HD) to the South Fields:

Use HBF South Exit (station Bahnstadt Hauptbahnhof Süd, see map below), use Tram 26 – Direction HD- Kirchheim, Exit Messplatz, walk to the Fields (500 meters, marked on the Fields map)

From HBF HD to North Fields:

Use HBF North Exit, (station HD Hauptbahnhof West, see map below), use Tram 24 – Direction Handschuhsheim, Exit Technologiepark, transfer to Bus 37 (same platform) – Direction Tiergartenstrasse, Exit Studentenwohnheim (Fields 6-8), Schwimmbad (Field 5), DJKSportplatz (Field 4) or Sportzentrum Nord (Field 1-2). All Exits are marked on the Fieldsmap

From North Fields to HBF HD
Fields 1-5: Use Bus 37 (stations see above) – Direction Bundengymnasium, Exit Bunsengymnasium, transfer to Tram 24 – Direction Hauptbahnhof
Fields 6-8: Use Bus 32 (station Jugendherberge) – Direction Bismarckplatz

From Weinheim (station Rosenbrunnen) & Hirschberg (station Leutershausen Bf.) Use Tram 5 – Direction Heidelberg, Exit Hans-Thoma-Platz, Transfer to Tram 24 – Direction Hauptbahnhof/Betriebshof, Exit Technologiepark,transfer to Bus 37 as explained above.

Player Party Shuttle (PPS) running from “Im Bieth” Busstation to Halle 02 – 8 p.m. – 10 p.m. only!
Friday night Party bus running from Halle 02 to HBF HD (North Exit) first stop, to Jungendherberge/Campground Tiergartenstrasse second stop, than back to Halle 02. Last Bus leaving Halle 02 at 2.30 am!

Direction Hirschberg/Weinheim use Tram 5 running from Bismarckplatz or Hans-Thoma-Platz to your accommodation.

You can get more information about public transport at the Welcome Desk in the main hall of the Heidelberg central station on Friday and Saturday, July 12th – 13th or anytime at the Tourist Information right outside of the central station.
